sitting at my computer trying to figure out what words need to be typed out.
I start to over think things
have I done to may faith posts, craft posts, sponsor posts?
now it's time to take a deep breath.
*sigh*
and remember this blog is about Jesus, what he is saying in my life.
Today in church our sermon was on 1 Samuel 9-11
It was about Saul becoming the king.
In chapter 9 Saul showed a lot of insecurities.
- he seemed to be a follower
- spiritually disengaged
- wrong view of how God worked
- glass 1/2 empty kind of guy
When i looked at this list I saw so much of myself in it.
in my life, my blogging, my business.
- what's everyone else writing about, what are the latest handmade jewelry trends,
- i am missing the blessings of the words around me #shereadstruth (on instagram)
- I keep trying to use my works to please God
- I feel like things are never getting better, just more complicated
and then I see the change in chapter 10 that happens to Saul.
God changed Saul.
God changed Saul's heart.
1 Samuel 10:6-9
The Spirit of the Lord will come powerfully upon you, and you will prophesy with them; and you will be changed into a different person. Once these signs are fulfilled, do whatever your hand finds to do, for God is with you.
“Go down ahead of me to Gilgal. I will surely come down to you to sacrifice burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, but you must wait seven days until I come to you and tell you what you are to do.” As Saul turned to leave Samuel, God changed Saul’s heart, and all these signs were fulfilled that day
God did not want to fix Saul's heart
Ezekiel 36:26
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.
Acts 1:8
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
In chapter 11 we see a whole new Saul.
1 Samuel 11:6
When Saul heard their words, the Spirit of God came powerfully upon him, and he burned with anger.
We see a Saul changed by God.
- he is a leader
- he is decisive
- he is a commander
God wants to make each of us a new person with a new heart.
When God gives us his Holy Spirit so we will have the qualifications to do anything.
We get to throw out all our insecurities because he is in us.
We can have an undivided heart
Ezekiel 11:19
I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.
My prayer is that God will pour his Spirit into me, filling me and changing my heart. Helping my become secure in Him.

So good. I think many can relate to this. Thanks for posting your thoughts.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE what you wrote " God did not want to fix Saul's heart - he changed his heart"
SO so good. Thanks for sharing your heart! This was a great reminder. To allow God to work THROUGH me, not to try my own "works" to please God.

I can definitely relate. I think when Satan sees a platform used to serve God he tries to fit in any insecurity, fear, comparison, whatever... To make it not about Jesus anymore. I don't know what the answer is except to press forward. Keep writing and seek him in the direction of our writing.
ReplyDeleteI could have written something similar last night and I love that you've shared this here. Thanks!!
Amen I feel the same way!! Thanks for sharing your heart! xoxox
